Commodity Watch: Copper futures gain on firm spot demand

New Delhi: Copper prices on Thursday rose 1.12 per cent to Rs855.55 per kilogram in the futures market on the back of higher spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), copper contracts for delivery in May traded higher Rs9.50 or 1.12 per cent at Rs855.55 per kg in a business turnover of 5,505 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to the raising of bets by participants.
Aluminium futures rise on speculative bets
Aluminium futures rose 0.59 per cent to Rs238.20 per kilogram as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. On MCX, aluminium contracts for May delivery increased Rs1.40 or 0.59 per cent to Rs238.20 per kg in a business turnover of 3,897 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders amid demand from consuming industries supported aluminium prices in the futures market.
